History: Due to a devastating 26% unemployment rate, the Taylor County Crisis Relief Center was established in 1999 through the Interagency Council. Its mission was to coordinate help for people who for the first time, due to recent industrial closings, needed help making ends meet. As a result valuable workers stayed in the county until jobs returned with new industries. It is and always has been a goal that the Center provides a hand up, not a hand out.
Purpose: The Taylor County Crisis Relief Center exists to coordinate information and referrals for people with needs, to participating agencies and to provide emergency funding for utilities, rent or medicine not covered by existing services.
